8. Collect on your ex
• As long as you were married at least 10 years,
• And are not currently married,
• You may be able to collect on your ex-spouse's work history as early as age 62.
A better strategy might be to wait until normal retirement age of 66 and file a restricted claim for spousal benefits only. Defer collecting your own retirement benefit until it’s worth the maximum amount at age 70 and then switch.
