HSA dilemma
Once you are 65 or older and file for Social Security, you must enroll in Medicare Part A, which is free. If you don’t, you will forfeit your Social Security benefits.
Once you are enrolled in Medicare, you can no longer contribute to a tax-deductible Health Savings Account. However, you can continue to take tax-free distributions from your HSA for qualified medical expenses even if you are enrolled in Medicare.
